9:30-10:30 What Does Being A Science Mean For Behavior? More and more training cases involve challenges that require a better understanding of behavior in order to achieve successful outcomes. A solid foundation in the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis, will give you the framework to develop plans to support owners as they learn to provide their dogs with the skills they need to be safe and comfortable pets. We will be featuring the Constructional Approach in this weekend’s workshop.
10:45-12:15 pm Presenter presentation- Dr Calder is a veterinary behaviorist. She will be presenting information on her work maintaining Sophia Yin’s legacy and will address important topics of the rolls of behavioral medications and behavioral euthanasia.
12:30-2:00 Lunch-Farmer’s Brattleboro’s Farmer’s Market is a popular destination for a variety of different food options and local products and crafts.

3:30-4:30 pm Animal training time! You’ll have the opportunity to spend time with different animals at the sanctuary.

9:00-10:30 Dr. Sean Will & Maasa Nishimuta, MA. What is the Constructional Approach and how can it be used to improve the training of dogs in shelters, or transitioning the rehoming process? Shelter staff, rescue groups, foster caregivers and trainers will find this presentation of special importance.
10:45-12:00 Deconstruction of training videos. Hone your observation skills to be able to understand what is going right and what might be going wrong in a training session. Are there other ways to approach the challenge? Does the narrative fit the practice? Participants are invited to share videos they would like to assess.
